Groupings with 5

I am learning to know the sum of 5 and any other number to 5.  I know to start with 5 in my head and count on.   I am able to do this without help from materials.

Tread Lightly Caravan visit

The Tread lightly Caravan visit was teaching us that the environment is everything around us in nature and that the environment is really important for us to live (trees for oxygen, water to drink, plants for food etc.) so we need to look after it.

"I remembered, only rain goes down the drain!"

Wiggly Worms

We were learning about our Worm farm and how to look after it. All the leftover fruit and vegetables in the worm bucket feeds the worms. 

Noah said, "This is a Tiger worm. They are very wiggly."

Adding on from 5

I am learning to keep 5 in my head and add on.  This game is called Murtle Turtle and it reminds me to count on from a number.

"I was doing pluses. I had to put 5 in my head and then count. I liked it 100- so much!". said Noah

Reading Eggs

I am learning to use the illustrations to help me read the words.  Reading Eggs helps to reinforce my learning.

" Reading Eggs helps me with learning letters and sounds." said Noah

Acrostic poem

I am learning how to write an acrostic poem.  I know that I start each sentence with a letter of the subject.  I wrote about myself. 

" I can do finger spaces. I try to do the right letters. I am getting good at writing." Noah

Bird pillow

For our Art Exhibition this year we learnt how to sketch a bird.  The final drawing was transferred onto calico and dye was added.  The bird was glued onto a pillow that Mrs Scott and Mrs Worsfold had sewn.  Don't they look great!
